Dear Live Journal,

I'm sorry I've neglected you for 2 years now. Facebook and Multiply weren't what they posed to be. I'm glad to be with you again.

I just wanted to say

"Dry land is not a myth, I've seen it!"

Call Me Krispy

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I am officially the Krispy King. Just got back from high street and after buying 2 original glazed donuts and getting 2 and a half complimentary donuts I am officially Krispy. I could've eaten 6. If we stayed I would've eaten 10. Aileen had to pull me out of that place. The guy in charge of putting the donuts in the box saw how intently I watched the donuts as they came rolling down the glazing machine. He handed me 2 without hesitation.

After donut binging I spent around 2 hours just going around fully booked. I bought a Batman graphic novel that I had to literally fight for. Some dude with his girlfriend wanted the last copy too that I had it in my hand. I knew because I could hear them talking about it being the last copy and I know that he wanted me to let go. Well him wanting the last copy made it all that more valuable and maybe that's why I bought it. It's odd how the human psyche works sometimes.

Spent half of the day in the bazaar in the NBC tent and that was probably the first time I enjoyed walking around a bazaar. It was air conditioned thank the shopping gods. All I was waiting for was for a gypsy woman to hand me a glass flower.

Aileen and I ended our night having dinner in RedKimono. Food wasn't filling and a tad over priced but the crunchy maki was a treat.

And all is well in the world.

The LJ Problem

I've come to realize that my friends page is in a drought. My friends don't post as much as they used to. Is it just me or is blogging getting old fashioned - fast. No wonder I blog a lot lately, call me old fashioned. Do people just read nowadays or do they simply don't have time to write anymore. Maybe I should broaden my sphere of friends and branch out even to those I do not personally know outside my cyber life. I am truly alarmed. Live Journalists are endangered. I propose a movement... Blog a blog today!

I don't know why I like putting my name at the end of each blog. Makes me feel like I'm writing a letter or something like that. This is kinda weird considering that all entries in this page will come from me or an impostor who would still be posing as me. in any case, I will keep signing the ends of my blogs with my name just for the sake of accomplishment and the endorphine rush I get whenever I do.

Lesson Learned

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
White
Once upon a time, a friend asked me a question, "If you would let an artist of the opposite sex write about you, who would it be?". I answered without hesitation,  "Alicia Keys".

I was googling and youtubing a while ago and I found the collaboration of Alicia Keys and John Mayer entitled "Lesson Learned" and I thank technology for bestowing the cyberworld with torrents. Alicia Keys' album is at 15% right now and will be finished in a few minutes or so. I can't wait. This could be the album I'll be listening to until I switch and trade my tunes for Christmas Carols for the holidays. 2 days into the sem and already I can't wait for Christmas vacation.

I did something pretty interesting today. Our Lit prof asked us to write down our top 5 books that we will force feed our children before they die and this is how my list turned out.

1) The Lord of The Rings
2) The Sandman
3) Batman Comics
4) Coraline
5) Brothers Karamazov

THE LORD OF THE RINGS. Number one of course! because it is only the greatest piece of literature ever written period! The Sandman, is probably the most important non-superhero comic book series. BATMAN as he is the ultimate superhero who will kick any other superhero or super villains' ass for that matter. My top three is untouchable, undeniable, undisputed even.

But upon further reflection, I'd like to crop out numbers 4 and 5. I put Coraline in that list because I had my kids in mind and when the time comes, I'd like to read Coraline to them before they go to sleep, that is of course, just the appetizer before I read parts of The Lord of The Rings. Besides, Gaiman's most important work is already in the list at number two. My number five is an undeniable classic in it's own right. Life is within those 600 pages and we can't argue with that. But I put it there more for intellectual boasting more than anything, I haven't even finished it and I'm only around halfway through. So for honesty's sake I would like to crop out 4 and 5 respectively, not because they are unworthy books but because there are 2 other titles in my library worth the mention. And number one will go to Machiavelli's "The Prince" as I believe my son or daughter for that matter should understand early on how the world works, And since I am King, it is only fitting they read how to become "the prince". number five is a three way tie between the Great Political Thinkers, Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, and The Holy Bible. It's hard to decide because I've always believed in having a sound mind, sound body, and a sound soul. And these three will teach you discipline for those respective dimensions of life.

Perhaps this matter will require deeper reflection.

This post is a tourism advertisement for the Philippines more than anything. Last night I finally figured out why third world country rides are better than anything Six flags, Disneyland, or King's Dominion have to offer.

They say that the adrenaline rush of riding a roller coaster is equal to the rush of having sex. Having that said, it suddenly becomes clear where this self inflicted terror comes from.

Global Carnival have rides not for the faint of hearts, or of stomachs for that matter. I wasn't ready then I rode "the flipper". This ride can only be described as teacups on steroids. The ride makes your cup revolve while making it spin at the same time on an axis. And the sensation you will feel after is exactly what the Earth would feel if it tried to make a full revolution around the sun in 3 minutes instead of 365 days. No wonder the nearest rest room was flooded with puke. Then theres the flying fiesta like ride which was also more intense than the one in EK. We even tried out the Haunted House which included a 3 paragraph intro you have to read to figure out why this "Mortuary" was haunted. I like haunted houses, and last night I must admit was one of the most enjoyable houses I've been into. After you've gotten over the popping surprises around the rooms you go through, there's a man that appears behind you wearing a mask and dragging a chain that makes for a wicked screech. He chased us around for like 30 seconds, but the feeling of being chased by a killer is so genuine that I almost fooled myself that it was real. Or then again, maybe I was just savoring the P60 haunted experience. There's the traditional carousel, ferris wheel, and the anchors away like ride that goes 360 degrees.

But the real fear comes not from the generated terror the rides themselves make. But with the constant idea in my mind that there is always a possibility of the rides breaking down. This roaming carnival looks pretty dated and the paranoid man that I am multiplies the fear because of this thought. That is why if you consider yourself a thrill seeker, I urge you to stop looking for it in other countries because they are here. What's the point of riding something certain in disneyland where nothing goes wrong. And if it does make sure that you will be compensated by Mickey Mouse for ten times you're worth. Here in the Philippines, when something goes wrong, you get screwed and that's it. It's like saying, what is more thrilling and daring, walking a tight rope with a net? or without?

Career High

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
White
Greetings cyberworld. Sembreak is almost over and I must admit that I haven't been as productive as I have originally intended to be during the start of this break. I credit that mostly to the xbox and as I have come to realize that as true as the saying "with great power comes great responsiblity" goes, with the xbox comes a greater increase in your room visitation rate. The neighbors have been complaining because of the noise but we couldn't care less really.

School starts on Monday, I've done my school supplies shopping and bought this snazzy new notebook binder. I have found out that buying new school supplies always keep me motivated to study because it's always fun to write on new stuff and use them. These are all in line with my quest to obtain my QPI career high by topping my previous one a 3.08/4 last sem. I know that this may seem like an average grade to most of you, but to me, this is monumental for someone who don't really care about grades.

and with the attempt to salvage this weekend I am going to the carnival in the Mall of Asia tonight and check out what's happening down there.

Just another reason why John "the one" Mayer is my favorite musician.

Me and my buddies can't get enough of Halo 3, and with Xbox live we've been making a killing out there in cyberworld for past few days. Sure we don't get enough sleep, but then again, rest is for the weak and sick.

Congratulations to the UAAP Basketball Juniors team of Zobel for winning the championship after a hard fought game against the Ateneo Blue Eagles no less... My hats off to coach Aldeguer, he's probably the coach with the most wins in Zobel history thus far. 2 championships from a previous goose egg from our school... Applause Applause.

Go La Salle, Go Go Lasalle...

Tomorrow, Ateneo-Lasalle Seniors. Enough giving bookies their cut, it's time to show them what LaSalle basketball is all about!

Hello Hell Week

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
White
I just got my pc back and it is now exactly 11:45pm Ateneo time, much thanks to the Jobz and his pirating skills. He is responsible for resuscitating my PC for the second time now after crashing twice. Thanks man, much love for the time and effort.

Week one of the Carpool biggest loser is almost through and what can I say? I've cheated a lot and I'm not too proud of it. Well as the old saying goes, cheaters never win, and in this game the more you cheat the more you gain, unfortunately the more you gain well, the more you lose.

Prison break is back on and thanks again to Jobo's pirating skills for hooking me up with the first episode of season 3! Ye baby, Scofield mode.

And I called it, lasalle winning it for solo second place, I had to sit on the lasalle side for this one in support for mah main man JV "oh baby" Casio. Ice cold baby, simply ice cold. Watching an Ateneo Lasalle game is a lot like watching starwars for me. You have the light side in Ateneo, and you got the dark side in Lasalle. You can't really pick sides now can you? Unfortunately hanging with Darth Vader and the dark side is much cooler, So I'm going for Lasalle all the way man. You can never go wrong with the force grip.

And so hello hell week. I'm just taking time to breathe now because I probably won't have time to remember to in a few days. but before that Fall Out Boy concert first tomorrow. Man, when is John Mayer gona come visit us?

Good luck to us all

The Biggest loser! 180

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
White
The biggest loser is the winner!

We arranged a weight losing competition in carpool and we're doing it by pair and last night was the start of the official weigh in.  So starting today til october 14 there will be no sweets, no other liquids but water, and just a mother load of self-control!  10 contestants 5 teams 1 goal, to be the biggest loser!

Last night was the last hurrah for binging. at least 8 sticks of BBQ, mac and cheese, pancit. one grande Red horse.

my magic number right now is 180. And It's going to be tough, I know, but with sheer discipline anything is possible.

In order to have a double motivation for this competition and in light of the sembreak vacation, I arranged another biggest loser competition in pol sci. This is going to be interesting because there are mostly guys in BF carpool and in Pol Sci most of the contestants are girls so it's really up to me to step up and shape up because both groups seem determined to make it.

I think Kyle, Enchong, Nico, and Alfie will be the obvious favorites but with the late entry addition of LJ I think it's going to be an interesting cut throat competition. We should never write off the wild card JV Sebial and those thunder thighs of his.

We've yet to draw lots for teams and I believe this will add an interesting dimension to the game to have a buddy giving you motivation to lose weight. One thing is for sure, whoever my partner will be will hear it from me all day!

let's do this!!! So  if you see me walking around looking a bit cranky its because I probably haven't eaten yet! So don't test me! hahahaha

180...

good luck to everyone, walang mag shashabs ah hahaha

Oatmeal breakfast muna ako excuse me

I'm still reeling...

It was only once every blue moon, a universal joke that starts when stars align and decide to pull a great prank on me. When the whole cosmos decide to channel all the malice in this universe unto my shoulders.

When the greatest one-two punch combo hit me and left me unconscious.

Right after the Lasalle loss, came the premiere of High School musical 2.

What a sad day for basketball...

Thank god Wilton Norman Chamberlain never lived to see this day. On second thought maybe he's just part of the prank, smiling down on us from that big basketball heaven...

I feel that I should correct myself and apologize for making a rude and encompassing comment last time about authors and their choice of words. It's not their fault they use complicated and sophisticated words, maybe they just are! but of course maybe they're just too much for a simpleton like me. After all, who am I to disrespect words and their quality? Read on...

It's fun to read for fun

I've rediscovered the joy of reading. I've put down my textbooks and picked up 'Fragile Things' for tonight and I just feel so refreshed to be reading something that does not only appeal to my head but more importantly to my heart. It's funny how some textbooks use big words to try and sound sophisticated, when it is truly the simple words that stick to us when we read. I believe that it is the small words that truly penetrate our hearts.

Be Thankful

Add to Memories Tell a Friend

I saw this poem posted on a bulletin board near the chapel, I thought it was so inspiring and I'd like to share with all of you. I heard it was a text quote or something but oh well. It just made my day

Be thankful that you don't already have everything you desire,
If tou did, what would there be to look forward to?

Be thankful when you don't know something,
for it gives you the opportunity to learn.

Be thankful for the difficult times,
during those times you grow.

Be thankful for your limitations, because they give
you opportunities for improvement.

Be thankful for each new challenge,
because it will build your strength and character.

Be thankful for your mistakes,
they will teach you valuable lessons.

Be thankful when you are tired and weary,
because it means you've made a difference.

Hi I’m Carlos Agana and this is my story…

Four years ago I was sitting on the greener side of things. I was president of the Student Council of De La Salle Zobel. We all thought that school life started and ended with High School, but we were wrong. I took college here in the Ateneo and people often wondered what made me switch sides. Well, I believe that it’s not the school that makes the students but it is the students that make the school.  I never got straight (A) s although I did get lucky sometimes, I probably won’t graduate as cum laude or anything like that. But I will assure you this; I will graduate as the person I always wanted me to be. I will graduate an obedient son, a caring brother, a genuine friend, and a God fearing human being, loving life for the gift that it is. As I enter another chapter of destiny’s pages I would like to thank all of you who have been part of this last one, you may or may not remember that you have stepped into my life but nonetheless you helped me make myself the way I am. And to the Carlos Ivan D. Agana III of 10, 20, or 30 years from now, may this be a reminder to you that no matter where you are in life right now, as long as you are at peace with yourself and with God, you will find happiness.
